Tuesday night was all about Music for Breakfast at Vibe Bar. An evening dedicated to give up and coming music artists and fashion brands a chance to showcase their stuff!! Set up by mimtv.com the evening was set in uber trendy Brick Lane and I was selected to showcase the Gemma Goldstone SS13 collection in the form of a pop up shop!! I am such a massive fan of fusing fashion and music as the two are so in sync an influential of each other. The stage was owned by some massively talented acts which I'm sure we will be seeing much more of in the furture and the great location brought the crowds in to check out what was going down!! So take a look at some snaps from the evening and my lovely little pop up treasure!!

Grazia's Fash Factor

So yesterday was Grazia magazines Fash Factor competition where they hosted an X- Factor style audition for the fashion pack. Giving each applicant a 2 minute slot to pitch themselves and their designs to a stellar line up of judges the pressure was on to dress to impress!! The uber talented panel consisted of designers Roland Mouret and Peter Jensen, Liberty's superstar head of fashion Stephen Ayres and the Grazia ladies editor in chief; Jane Bruton and fashion director Susannah Frankel. Nothing like a high profile judging panel to calm the nerves right?!

Thursday night was all about the preparation. After rummaging through my Pic'n'Mix collection and my box of styling treasures I decided to go with the electric blue fur jacket teamed with the sporty white choker crop top and PVC mini skirt throwing in some scrunchies and a shopper bag (though I ended up using the chain strap fur bag) for good measure!! Nothing like a good Instagram piccy to show off the look!! Once all was packed, my nails where done and my model was confirmed I realised that I had to actually write my presentation and 2 minutes is a lot longer that you think! Especially when I turn on speedy gonzales mode when I'm nervous. But I finally had my notes prepped and alarm set for 5.15am (ouch!) ready to make my way down to Shaftesbury Avenue, London bright and early Friday morning.

Meeting the gorgeous Georgia in central London at 7.30 am we swiftly popped into a Starbucks to grab coffees for the road and have a quick change and then we were set. Luckily our eagerness payed off as we bagged ourselves a nice spot near the front of the que although it quickly filled up behind up with the competition. The lovely girls from Grazia where about signing us up and handing out free copies of the latest issue for a nice little read and last spot of inspo while we waited!

The nerves where definitely kicking in but the lovely bloggers from Liberty London where there and did a lovely interview with me getting the scoop on me and my brand and trying to put my nerves at ease!! Then before we new it we where being escorted through the corridors of Grazia HQ and taken into a waiting room and being prepped for the final moments.

And there we have it, photo taken, application in a very shaky hand and we were taken into the very daunting room faced by a selection of some of the most influential people in fashion today. I managed to blurt out my presentation while Georgia twirled for the judges and before I knew it the timer was beeping as my final sentence was drawing to a close. Leaving with my heart still beating a thousand times a minute it was over in a flash!! All that is left to do now is eagerly sit back and await the judges verdict. I would like to say a massive thank you to the Grazia and Liberty London team putting on such a fantastic event showcasing all the hidden fashion gems giving us an opportunity to present our work to some amazing judges!! And not to mention my fab model, George Verity, for showing off my collection in true Gemma Goldstone style!!    Fingers crossed!!!!

Urban CoCo Magazine

So a few weeks ago I was interviewed by the lovely Naomi Nightingale for the fabulous Urban Coco Magazine's 8th issue launching in Leeds and surrounding areas.

'Urban Coco is a magazine for fun, fearless females that love all things fashion.' Launching in June 2010 the magazine prides itself on promoting independent and emerging designers worldwide. Their goal is to 'give raw talent in the fashion industry a platform to get noticed' and that they do. With a free monthly edition in Leeds and surrounding areas and a quarterly international issue they are spreading the word to the world!!

Being a former Leeds College of Art student I thought it was a fab opportunity to be featured and showcased in a city that has made me the designer that I am today. This stunning 8 page editorial/interview explores the Gemma Goldstone brand showing it off in its full glory! With glossy images and a nitty gritty interview be sure to check it out and get the inside story on the Gemma Goldstone brand!!

Didn't manage to get your hands on a free copy?? No sweat, check it out online now!!
